“Training Workshop on the Incident Command System”
Conducted by Emergency Management Trainer Sean Hughes
This 4 –hour workshop on July 30, 2015 provided a detailed introduction to emergency response supervisors and mid-to upper-level managers to the Incident Command System (ICS) forms used in the development of an Incident Action Plan (IAP). Participants examined the primary forms used in an IAP, as well as supporting and other utility forms. In addition, participants reviewed the planning process and where, within that process, the forms are filled out and by whom. The workshop included a practical application designed to instruct participants in the development of Specific, Measurable, Action-oriented, Realistic, and Time-based (SMART) control and management objectives.
Instructor Sean Hughes came from his home base in College Station, Texas.
Representatives from CRC campuses were joined for this national training by people from a wide variety of agencies across the Triangle and the state. That included fire and police department staff from Raleigh, Apex and Morrisville and other higher ed institutions including UNC-Wilmington, East Carolina, Rowan-Cabarrus Community College and Winston-Salem State. CRC hosted both morning and afternoon 4-hour trainings, and participants were awarded a certificate for completion.
