Students beginning the Honors Program attended a day-long retreat to Camp Agape to test their leadership competencies and build strong connections.
On October 26, students in the Honors 100 class at William Peace University embarked on a trip to Camp Agape in Fuquay-Varina for a day of team building and personal growth. Associate Professor of Business Administration Heidi Gailor, who teaches the course, led the group. She was joined by Director of Retention and First Year Experience Dawn Dillon and senior Teaching Assistants Ashley Wyrick and Vivian Camplin, who facilitated various activities throughout the day.
The trip is a cornerstone of the Honors 100 curriculum, allowing incoming Honors students to explore ethical leadership in action. The class emphasizes leadership development, focusing on how individuals can lead ethically, work collaboratively, and build on their strengths. The Camp Agape experience is designed to test these concepts hands-on while fostering bonds among students outside of the classroom.
