William Peace University’s Esports team will begin its fall season this month. WPU has three esports teams: Rocket League, Overwatch, and Super Smash Bros.
The teams compete against other universities through the National Association of Collegiate Esports (NACE). Each of the teams made it to the playoffs last year.
Head Coach Coleman Arehart is excited to start a new season based on how the team finished last year.
“As the Head Esports Coach, I’m particularly excited for this semester because of how many players we have. A fair number of our players graduated in the spring, including some of our team leaders,” Arehart said. “But we’ve bounced back in a big way with enthusiastic leadership for all of our teams, as well as deepened rosters that are full of new faces. We have big plans for this year, so I hope folks around campus stay posted.”
